Target 4/5 stars (Good, if you're looking for new or popular games.)Target's selections of games is average, but they don't carry enough of the smaller/not as hot games. The prices are pretty much the same as anywhere else, no more, no less.
Fry's 4.5/5 stars (Huge selection)Fry's is probably one of the best, if not
the best place to buy your PC games. Because they have such a huge selection, they carry all the games, popular, new, old, classics and even the bad games. Also, the staff who work in the game department tend to be more computer smart, which helps alot.
The only thing that is stopping Fry's from getting 5 stars is... They have horrible... and I repeat horrible, over the phone service.
For example, once I called Fry's to find out if they had Command and Conquer Generals in stock. After a 15 minute ordeal of me telling them to check, recheck, and double recheck. The Fry's staff member finally said, frustrated and impatiently, "uhhhg, as I said before, all we have in stock is Command and Conquer Generals." The thing, is the Fry's staff member did not tell me "earlier" that they had it in stock. And, just the fact that I had to tell them to check, recheck and double recheck, is pitiful.
Therefore, the best way to find out if they have something in stock, is to probably go there yourself. Otherwise, you'll just end up, more frustrated and confused than before.
2/5 stars. (Worst selection and worst staff)Walmart is by far the worst place to buy your PC games. They have by far the worst selection on PC games out of all the stores. They seem to have more of the "Nancy Drew", "Farm Tycoon" and "hunting" type games, and less actual regular PC games. Basically, Walmart's selection of games are more geared toward the really young kid.
The staff at Walmart pretty much know nothing about the games.. They'll just scream on the microphone to have some other staff member help you. And he/she won't know anything either.
4/5 stars.Best Buy, has a good selection of games. Although they may not have as much of a selection compare to Fry's. They carry a good amount of games, and the PC game section is very organized.
The staff at Best Buy relatively PC smart.
One big plus for Best Buy is, there are alot more Best Buys around than Fry's, which means, you are more likely to live closer to a Best Buy than a Fry's. Giving Best Buy a big plus, because that means it's probably alot quicker and easier to get to a Best Buy than a Fry's to get your games. That's why I suggest mainly going to Best Buy for most of your games. But if you want to get a hard to find/not popular old game, I would suggest checking out Fry's.
2.5/5 stars (Low selection, but knowledgeable staff)
GameStop has a very low selection, they tend to carry only the extremely popular games or the really new games. They used to have a big "used game" section, but due to some problems they stopped doing that. (Some GameStop stores still have a "used game" section.)
The GameStop staff are usually very knowledgeable, so they're good if you want some info on games.
Final summary:
I suggest going to Best Buy for most of your games.
I suggest going to Fry's if you want to find a old/not as popular game.
I suggest going to Target if you want a popular or new game.
I suggest going to GameStop for info on games.
I suggest going to Walmart for a Nancy Drew or Bob the Builder game.
